Well, we're not new to digital sound projectors, but maybe you are so here's a quick - and I mean quick - summary. A traditional sound bar has several speakers that simply replace the speakers on your TV and give you a bit better sound quality. Well, given just how bad TV speakers are getting, they give you MUCH better sound quality. Still, if they do any simulated surround sound it's merely phase-induced and not very sophisticated. Sometimes it even kinda ruins the sound. Yamaha's Digital Sound Projectors, on the other hand, use any number of tiny speakers that work in conjunction with a very sophisticated algorithm to literally place 5 virtual speakers in your room. Finally found a link to the chair for all you guys asking! www.globalindustrial.com I finally rebooted the Man Cave and re-arranged everything to give me more space and control over video, lighting and sound so I can improve my YouTube channel for you awesome subscribers and I wanted to share the end result with you. With my new layout I now can move the camera further away from the desk and also position the lights in much better positions to do video recording. I can also now capture directly from the center screen of the setup to a separate computer using the Elgato Game Capture HD and some clever wiring with an HDMI switch and HDMI splitter allowing me to capture XBOX and PC and also record microphone input voice over in real time. I also have a Mackie Mixer Model 802-VLZ3 that is used for mixing all of the analog audio outs from my computers ASUS Xonar STX and my XBOX 360 along with either a headset microphone or a phantom powered studio microphone. My primary sound system is a Logitech Z-5500 setup connected with both fiber optic (TOSLINK) and analog from my ASUS Xonar STX so I can listen to 5.1 surround on both XBOX and PC while recording via the Elgato in stereo. This is a very flexible setup! I now have my TrackIR 5 Pro and my Wacom Tablet connected always and in a place where can easily access them and then put them away. Prior to this I had to take them out of a drawer and hook them up with wires everywhere and then put them back away and try not to tangle ...

Redesigning My Homemade Subwoofer

This is showing the process of me redesigning this sub. I had to do this because fits in the enclosure way better, the old one didn't fit because the cutout diameter was 1/4" too wide and the tape holding the rubber bands that I used for a spider came loose and the surround had air leaks in it. This one is better designed. The surround is taller so it can handle more excursion. If someone wants make one, these are the materials I used but you can try different materials if you want. Cone and basket - foam board(very stiff and very light) surround - duct tape spider - file folder voice coil bobbin - paper towel roll voice coil wire - 26AWG enamel coated wire(from Radio Shack) glue - hot glue and gorilla glue

Check out how this was made at www.kissfancentral.com This is called a Kinetically Integrated Screen Surround stage. The scale is approximately 1:12. It is one fan's vision/interpretation of a KISS concert stage, utilizing various McFarlane KISS Series action figures and the many KISS concerts this fan has attended and seen on video. All of the components of the stage are hand made except for a television, the action figures, the guitars, the drum kit, microphone stands, the speakers/amps, the coiled snake pole, the sirens, some lights and lighting scafolding. The frame was hand made using lumber. The stage measures about 6' 10" H x 4' W x 3' D and has hidden shelving for a DVD/VCR player, underfloor lights (that shine through the gratings on the stage front), and battery containers for the McFarlane scafolding lights. There is stop motion used (the drummer and the group bowing). Gene and Paul both take flight by means of moving contraptions. The drum riser levitates (and drops a black cloth with gold cats), moves forward, and rotates. There are two hydraulic lifts on either side of the stage that levitate. Computerized effects such as fireworks, sparklers, and fire are used to enhance the "concert feel" of the experience. Paul flies to his own solo stage. Ace boards his "rocket ride". New domes are cheap and can usually be ordered with the foam kit.

While that's not exactly pocket change, it's a far cry from what many people consider "high-end" and yet most of the audiophile speakers we've seen in our day don't approach this type of build quality and styling. Review on my new speakers for those who are interested. My thoughts on the wharfedale diamond 9.1 Bookshelves Speakers : I'm impressed with the overall performance of the diamonds 9.1 speakers. Bass, trebles and mids are nicely balanced, built quality is also good, Those speakers will put a big smile on anybody's face, for 100 UK Pounds it's a bargain.. My thoughts on the JBL ES80 Floorstanding Loudspeakers: The JBL's performed fantastic at the store but when i took them home they lacked a bit of that lively sound, maybe it's the room acoustics (small room) but anyways the JBL worked real nice with my Pioneer Receiver, at the store it out classed many expensive speakers. I'm pretty pleased with the performance of the JBL i notice a change in audio, stereo sound has improved a lot over my old Tangent, and they also sounds more realistic than many speakers i have tested. Bass Sound: Well JBL are known for their bass but on my Pioneer Receiver i get a tighter bass sound, but i have connected my Sound MAX Audio PC Sound Card and used the Baseline feature and the neighbours started to complain :D . For instance, at this setting (and also "headphones"), the 3D tab will only "Xpand" to stereo, whereas if a multichannel output is selected, there is also the option to use all channels ("Virtual Surround"), greatly enhancing the effect. I have not had the "Snap, Crackle, Pop" problem as other people have, and this is a very well made sound card in my opinion. The song is Slam by Pendulum, and I do not claim ownership of it.

The ultimate comparison. Sound test of: Marantz PM6003 + Monitor Audio BX2, Marantz PM6003 + JBL ES20 Logitech Z-5500 Let the music do the talking. First observations: Monitor Audio BX2 - nice bass, perfect treble. Recommendation mainly for rock, metal, trance and so on. Personally - nice allrounder. JBL ES20 - weak bass, unpleasant highs (too much hiss). I wouldn't recommend them for music. This speakers should be used on sides of 5.1 system only. Logitech Z-5500 (sets: connected via optical SPDIF, stereo x2, volume: 15%, subwoofer: 70%, surround: 50%) - powerful bass, sometimes sloppy. They lack mids and sound bad in music. My recommendation is only for movies or parties with dnb/electro playlists. More conclusions to be added in description when I have time. Stay tuned!
