In this video, I show you guys how you can hook up your analog 5.1 surround sound speakers to your Mac to get real Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. This is not simulated surround sound, it is the real deal. Usually, these analog speakers, like my Logitech X-540 system, come with three cables that you need to plug into your computer. The problem is, Macs only have one jack to plug them into. So how would you plug all three in for true 5.1 surround? You may not know it, but most Macs actually output optical audio through their headphone jack. This signal is digital and it can carry 5.1 channels of sound. So what we need to do is take this optical signal, decode it and convert it into an analog one. This can either be done through an expensive receiver or, you could follow the steps in this video and get it to work for under 0. All you are going to need can be found in the links below. You need a 5.1 digital to analog decoder (around -) and a toslink cable with mini toslink on one end. And of course you also need some analog surround sound speakers. I just love this thing. It's not a surround sound system. It's not the best set of speakers money can buy.... but for a street price of less than 5 you get a product that will actually make decent sound and far outperform anything your TV has to offer. With shrinking TV thicknesses come shrinking speakers... and at this point, what's left is really starting to hurt the overall experience of watching TV. It's that bad. And Vizio knows it's on to something, too, because the VHT215 is showing up everywhere. It's very visible and the company apparently wants you to be able to get your hands on one. Karlheinz Stockhausen's Helikopter Streichquartett, possibly his most infamous piece, and maybe the work that will live on next to his name longer than anything else just by its sheer execution. I'm sure most of you know what this piece is, but for those who aren't familiar with it, this is a string quartet performed by separating the musicians into separate helicopters and having them use wireless microphone systems to hear the other members. All four feeds are subsequently transmitted to the audience below wirelessly to a set of speakers that surround the audience.

This is the lowest priced house they have seen, but is it the house they are looking for. Back at their hotel, the couple discuss with Aled the properties they have seen, and not wishing to live in rented accomodation for much longer, which, if any, of these properties will they choose. 15"s killing a house

OK so PA speakers cant hope to match proper 15" SUBwoofers, but they have a damn good shot at it. Although the camera doesnt pic it up cos its too busy focusing on 50hz from the mains lights, the downstairs light visually shakes like hell when bass under 32hz is played. And yes, that is the ceiling of the stairs making that nasty flexing sound!! Like i say these are 15s with highly strengthened crinkle cardboard surrounds, and boxed with no port walls tuned to around 34hz, but being PA they also peak at something like 150hz also, where you get that insanely loud high bass that makes you feel terribly sick but thats fun at the same time. They also have very loud and clear horn mid/highs in them. The signal being sent to the 2x200W powered mixer is from my computer which has a 5.1 surround soundcard, so im obviously using the subwoofer out terminal. The X-over freq is pretty high but they can handle it being PA. They're rated at 500Wrms each, so technically underpowering them by 300W! Even if i had a 500Wrms amp i think id be too scared to puch these to the limit, theyre loud enough as it is. Volume-wise and used as PA speakers rather than subwoofers i wouldnt be suprised if they could hit 140db+ on 200W, and still provide un-distorted, punchy clean sound. Hmm ive just had an idea....maybe i should test out my eD on the 200W amp while its up here...would probably need to bridge it tho... maybe not such a good idea...unless i run one coil on each channel...that would give ...

Stereo on PC is broken. I've confirmed this across 3 computers and 6 sound devices, THIS AFFECTS EVERYONE. The 5.1 downmixed clips sound identical to stereo on 360 and PS3, it's what the game is supposed to sound like. Unless you have a sound card capable of downmixing 5.1 to stereo you will only be able to hear a compromised version of the game sound as demonstrated in the clip. Ambient sound is not only much lower in volume, but entire elements of it are gone. Some areas are affected worse than others, but the ENTIRE GAME is affected to some extent. Dark Souls has almost no music and relies heavily on ambient sound to create mood. It's slow paced and gives you plenty of time to take it in. This makes the issue more serious than it would in any other game. Unless modders become aware of this it's unlikely to ever be fixed, making it only possible to experience the game as intended on PC either with 5.1 or a sound card capable of downmixing 5.1 to stereo. Just got the Bose Companion 3 series II speakers+subwoofer. I filmed this review with the Cannon Vixia HS10 and the mic on the camera picked up the sound quite well when I went back and watched it connected to the speakers. For those of you interested in the Bose speakers or the Cannon I hope this vido gives you a decent idea of what to expect. Just remember if you are watching this review to hear the speakers you need to have decent speakers on your computer to appreciate the sound quality they put out and that the mic picked up. For being a 2.1 system the speakers create a surround sound environment for movies. I am very happy with the set.
