For non-Dutch speakers: This short film tries to visualize how the model of a rhizome can be interpreted. Rhizome is a botanical term, meaning root system. Grass or ginger is a rhizome. An element of a rhizome is that it can make connections on the knots of the root. In the philosophy, the rhizome tries to visualize the connections between the human race. The form of the rhizome is not linear but a complete chaos. it expands likewise. Deleuze and Guattari use water as a metaphor for the rhizome. Or even better, gas. Because both expand in various directions. The rhizome is always the centre and heterogeneous. But heterogeneous between human connections. But it is always said that the rhizome contains everything. All these layers surround us. Flora / fauna, animals, humans, the universe. But how do we connect with those layers? Is there a connection between men and nature, or nature and universe? In an example I show enting. In nature a plant from species X can connect with a plant from species Y. A bush grows on the life juices of a tree, called an ent. Although both plants are from the nature-layer, they are not the same. Inner connections from layer to layer are possible. Also in an example how we humans have a bound with our pet. The pet recognizes us. The layers of humans and animals are linked crosswise as well. The philosophers say the model of the rhizome is heterogeneous, but I rather see the model of the rhizome as a uni-body. I don't speak of heterogeneous but ...
